Here is an excerpt from a story I'm writing, when I'm done, please tell me what you think of it, and be truthful.
It was getting dark by the time he found some deer. Quietly he got close and took aim, then he let his arrow fly. Time seemed to slow as the arrow was flying toward a doe. Then with a thud it hit the deer on the back left leg. Chaz cursed his luck as the herd scattered, but started to chase the herd. As he was running he slung his bow over his sholder and got his walking stick ready like a club......
What do you think
It isn't the best writing I've seen. First drafts never are. What James Dashner suggests is on the first draft, just write, write, write, and don't pay attention to how good the writing is. You just need to get the story down. After the first draft is done, you edit and revise it five or six times.
